Halloween - cool?

Ongerechtigheden hadden de overhand over mij;Psalm 65:4
onze overtredingen – Gij verzoent ze.
Prijst, o volken, onze God,Psalm 66:8-12
en laat luide zijn lof weerklinken,
die onze ziel herleven deed,
en niet toeliet, dat onze voet wankelde.
Want Gij hebt ons getoetst, o God,
ons gelouterd, gelijk men zilver loutert;
Gij hebt ons in het net gebracht,
banden gelegd om onze heupen;
Gij deedt mensen over ons hoofd rijden,
wij zijn door vuur en door water gegaan;
maar Gij voerdet ons uit in de overvloed.
Question: is the Bible old and outdated?
Many people think so. The many stories of Jesus expelling demons from people, demons that cried out in despair through the mouth of the victims they had to leave, are often interpreted as primitive interpretations of psychological phenomena. Even though the spiritual dimensions of life are more and more being accepted and explored these days, the existence of malevolent spiritual entities is naively being denied.
And so is the practice of human sacrifice. The many references in the Bible to the human sacrifices that the false gods of the peoples surrounding Israel demanded from their worshipers, are being regarded as references to primitive cultural phenomena. But here too the spiritual dimension is being missed out on. Human sacrifice is not just about culture. These 'gods' are still alive today. And they still demand the ritual shedding of human blood. Halloween is one of the prime occasions for this.
